The 2002 "Chateau Renee" is the premier release for Beaubassin Cellars. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the grapes were fermented in stainless steel, and the new wine allowed to remain on the skins for 21 days of extended maceration. Conservative barrel time in new American oak lends additional depth and character. The finished wine is medium bodied with soft tannins. Although drinkable now, it should imporove with short-term cellaring.
